The Prizm Google Chat integration delivers real-time data quality alerts and observability summaries directly to Google Chat spaces and DMs. Teams using Google Workspace can receive anomaly notifications, freshness alerts, and quality score digests without leaving their chat interface.

Prerequisites

  • Google Workspace account with Google Chat enabled
  • Permission to create incoming webhooks in the target Google Chat space
  • Prizm version 2.0 or later

Create an Incoming Webhook in Google Chat

  1. Open the Google Chat space where you want to receive Prizm notifications.
  2. Click the space name at the top → Apps & Integrations.
  3. Click Add webhooks.
  4. Enter a name (e.g., Prizm Alerts) and optionally an avatar URL.
  5. Click Save and copy the generated webhook URL.

Connect Prizm to Google Chat

  1. In Prizm, go to Settings → Integrations and click Add Integration.
  2. Select Google Chat from the collaboration integrations list.
  3. Fill in the connection fields:

  1. Click Test Connection — Prizm sends a test message to the space.
  2. Click Save.

Configure Notification Rules

After connecting, configure which Prizm events trigger Google Chat messages:

Freshness AlertFires when a table has not been updated within its expected freshness window

To configure rules:
  1. Go to Settings → Notifications → Notification Rules.
  2. Click Add Rule, choose the event type, and select your Google Chat integration as the destination.
  3. Optionally filter by asset tag, domain, or connector to route specific alerts to specific spaces.
Create separate webhook integrations for different teams (e.g., one for the data engineering space, one for analytics) and use notification rule filters to route the right alerts to each space.

Message Format

Prizm Google Chat messages use Google Chat card format with:
  • Asset name and link to the Prizm asset detail page
  • Alert type and severity
  • Metric value that triggered the alert (e.g., null rate: 42%)
  • Timestamp of detection
